# Privacy Policy for mediaSCW

  mediaSCW is a self-hosted media and DVR client application. The mediaSCW Android phone and Android TV apps connect to a mediaSCW server chosen by the user.

  ## Information the app uses

  mediaSCW may use the following information to provide app functionality:

  - Server address entered by the user
  - Login or access credentials needed to connect to the user's mediaSCW server
  - Media library, recording, live TV, and playback information provided by the user's mediaSCW server
  - Playback progress, resume position, and viewing status
  - Device playback capabilities, such as supported video and audio formats

  This information is used to connect to the user's server, browse media, schedule and play recordings, stream live TV, and resume playback.

  ## Data storage and transmission

  The mediaSCW app communicates with the mediaSCW server configured by the user. Data is transmitted between the app and that server as needed for app functionality.

  mediaSCW does not operate a separate cloud service for collecting user media, viewing history, account credentials, or playback activity.

  Some information may be stored locally on the device as part of normal app operation, such as server connection settings or playback state.

  ## Data sharing

  mediaSCW does not sell user data.

  mediaSCW does not share user data with advertisers or third-party analytics services.

  Data may be processed by the user's own mediaSCW server because that server provides the media library, DVR, live TV, and playback features.

  ## Permissions

  The app may request network access so it can connect to the user's mediaSCW server and stream media.

  ## Children's privacy

  mediaSCW is not directed to children. The app is intended for users who operate or have access to a self-hosted mediaSCW server.

  ## User control

  Users can remove server connection information by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app. Data stored on the user's mediaSCW server is controlled by the owner or administrator of that server.

  ## Changes to this policy

  This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. Updates will be posted at this same URL with a new effective date.
